Our mission is to serve, educate and inspire

The North Brixton Islamic Cultural Centre was found in the early part of the 1990’s to serve and educate communities across Lambeth, London and the UK, old and Young, and to inspire particularly the youth with the true teaching of Islam according to the Quran and Sunnah.

About Us

The North Brixton Islamic Cultural Centre is an all-purpose, multi-level mosque/centre that aims to serve the religious, spiritual and societal needs of the communities around Lambeth and its neighbouring boroughs. The Centre established in March 22nd, 1992 by a small group of brothers and sister from Sierra Leone, Ghana and Gambia who lived in the United Kingdom and realised the importance to have a community centre where communities of all background will come together to worship and serve each other needs….. In 1993, we contacted the Lambeth Council to rent the first floor and the basement of 180/182a Brixton Road. A temporary tenancy was granted, and weekly Friday Jumma prayers began with a handful of members attending. Alhamdulillah, since then, we have managed to secure the Centre as our own. North Brixton Islamic Cultural Centre is a place where around 1000-1300 believers from different ethnicity and background across Lambeth come together on weekly bases to worship, learn, and support one another in their spiritual needs and journey.

Vision:

Our aim is to promote understanding and knowledge about Islam in view of the Quran and the Sunnah as imparted to us by the holy prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), and provide relief from poverty, promote education, and fostering a strong and compassionate community. The North Brixton Cultural Centre is a local community that brings together people across different cultures and countries to unravel the truth about the almighty Allah and the message of the Holy prophet (Peace Be Upon Him). We aim to promote peace and harmony which the word “Islam” itself stands for.

Our Goals:

With our team of noble scholars and teachers, we encourage both the young and old to be a part of our community and learn about the true teachings of Islam in accordance with the Quran and Sunnah. Our community centre particularly aims at educating the youth about core Islamic teachings as they have a role in imparting knowledge of true Islam to the next generation.

Ambassador of Sierra Leone in the UK visited the mosque and had a meeting with some of the executives.
